Zuri's new home

Am I cute or what?
Zuri and Tessa playing in our backyard in typical Ridgie fashion
Three Ridgies waiting for treats on our trail walks.
I know it sounds silly but I fell in love with her before I even met her. There was something about her eyes in the picture that just captivated me right away.

We've had Zuri now for almost three weeks and she just fit in so quickly that I believe it was just meant to be. Our two-year-old Ridgeback, Tessa, whom we've had since she was a puppy, accepted her right away but kind of ignored her for the first couple of days. Now they play and stick together all day long.

Zuri seems to be having a wonderful time. I've taken her to Tessa's favorite pastime which is walking the trails in the woods off-leash with a friend of mine who also has a Ridgie and Zuri is fantastic. She doesn't stray too far away from me, comes immediately when called and if she's walking ahead of me on the trail, stops every once in a while to look back and check to see where I am. Needless to say, the three Ridgies have a blast!

I'd like to thank RRUS for everything they do and for allowing for this to have happened in our lives. I'd also like to thank Zuri's foster mom for having done such a good job with her.

The only thing we need to work on a little, and I think time will help, is her barking when she gets startled by someone walking into the room or at family members that she's not totally comfortable with yet. Obviously she has reason to be suspiscious of people but hopefully with time, she will come to realize that nothing bad is going to happen to her anymore. Other than that, I believe she is a very happy dog and we couldn't be happier with her.

Obedience Class

Bacari, Roadie, Scott, and I are headed to obedience class on Thursday. This is level 2 obedience and preparation for the Canine Good Citizen exam.

Bacari is already certified, just going as a refresher and also another step in his confidence boosting.

Roadie is set to prepare himself for his certification test. It was part of his adoption agreement (one I agree in and feel every dog should go through, esp Ridgebacks.) I think he will be successful, he did great in the first level of obedience. Whoever owned this dog before he became a RRUS foster dog did it right. If I could, I would thank them personally. He is wonderfully obedient and we have started not to use treats and he still minds!!

Scott will be the only newbie- it will be his first dog class. Hope he likes it. He will handle ROadie and take him through the certification exam.

Have a great week, hug your Ridgies (and all the wanna-be Ridgies as well)
Amanda

Chloe from Mass.

Hello

This is Chloe, she was 10months old when we adopted her in August and she celebrated her first birthday in October . (she is the one on the left.) The other one is her 2yr old big sister Cheyenne. the other picture is of her first and only snow fall this year. She came from the south and by the way she was unsure of the snow I dont think she had ever seen it .

Chloe is a wonderful dog she is so sweet and eager to please she is my 80 pound lap dog. She side steps into you when youre sitting and sits on your lap. and she is a great playmate for Cheyenne, the lack of grass in my yard from them running and chasing each other is proof . We had a few little problems when she first came but with help of a trainer we figured most of it out because now they get along great .

2 RR's R 10X's More Fun Than 1

Back-to-back snoozing.. Telling RR secrets.. Nose-to-nose smooching
We just adopted our second Ridgeback from RRUS and have discovered that two Ridgebacks are ten times more fun that one! We weren't planing on having two - Keto was supposed to be with us for a short period of time, but he decided he belonged with us. Sometimes life doesn't unfold according to our plans, especially when there's a Ridgie tugging at your heartstrings.
Our pack is now complete with Keto and Katoula. They are the best of friends and the best of dogs. We are blessed to have them. Keto will be six in a few weeks and we have much so celebrate with this fabulous boy. He apparently has not heard the phrase, "you can't teach an old(er) dog new tricks" because he is has learned many new things in his new home. We all have. Katoula has been with us for just over six months and has blossomed in a beautiful confident silly princess. Keto is our stately prince charming. May they live happily ever-after!

Two Ridgies aren't twice the work, but they definitely are way more fun!
